This page contains paintings of religious themes that Stan Sowinski
created over the last 20 years for his many church commissions and church projects. Each one is an original and each
one is signed. These are very rare as most of his religions work was done in his sketchbooks and went unsigned, and
design work-ups and studies often went with the finished commission to the church for fundraising purposes. The image below is a commission piece
that was installed above the choir in Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Escondido, California. He also designed the complete
altar and 4 life-size apostle paintings for this church, where one of his granddaughters was married. It is but one
of many large church commissions that Stan Sowinski completed for churches in the San Diego area. It was common for
him to be photographed with his wife Jackie upon completion of a commission, and to use those photographs as Christmas cards.
